With the symbolic lighting of the cities of Bosnia and Herzegovina in pink, “October – the month of the fight against breast cancer” has officially begun.

Associations of breast cancer patients gathered in the network “Think Pink – Together we are one” in fourteen cities and municipalities have illuminated some of the most beautiful buildings.

In the capital of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the Academy of Fine Arts was illuminated in pink.

Also, illuminated were the Old Bridge in Mostar, the Banski dvor in Banja Luka, the waterfall in Jajce, the Dragon Tower of Bosnia in Gradačac, the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin Mary in Široki Brijeg, the City Arena and two pedestrian bridges in Zenica, the City Hall and the fountain in Cazin and the fountain in Hadžići.

Hotel Tuzla, Bugojno High School, Silvija Strahimir Kranjčević Vocational High School in Livno and Ivan Goran Kovačić in Kiseljak, Kapetanova kula and the Church of Sv. Ante Padovanski in Bihać.

In this way, they joined a number of European cities and drew attention to the importance of early detection of the disease, organizers said.

After skin cancer, breast cancer is the most common cancer diagnosed in women in the United States. Breast cancer can occur in both men and women, but it’s far more common in women.

Substantial support for breast cancer awareness and research funding has helped created advances in the diagnosis and treatment of breast cancer. Breast cancer survival rates have increased, and the number of deaths associated with this disease is steadily declining, largely due to factors such as earlier detection, a new personalized approach to treatment and a better understanding of the disease.
