Head of the OSCE Mission to BiH, Ambassador Fletcher M. Burton said yesterday in Sarajevo of the importance of the signing of the Protocol between Serbia and BiH on the transfer of evidence in cases of war crimes within the context of regional cooperation.

‘’This is a crucial step forward for regional reconciliation. Our Mission for years already has been actively supporting this process of regional cooperation in trying to solve war crimes cases. This agreement is a sign of commitment by Serbia and BiH to eliminate impunity and ensure accountability for serious war crimes’’, said Burton.

He stressed that the Protoal contributes to cooperation between Serbia and BiH in processing war crimes.

‘’The next step in this process will be to provide information and evidence. The OSCE Mission will support the BiH Prosecution in this endeavor, as well as to continue to follow the development of events in the area of bilateral exchange of evidence’’, concluded Burton.
