Deputy Director of the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs, Mirsad Buzar, today received a delegation from the Department of State and the Department of Homeland Security of the United States of America, led by the Acting Principal Deputy Coordinator of the Bureau of Counterterrorism at the United States Department of State, Hillary Batjer Johnson, in a working visit.

At the meeting, Deputy Buzar and Assistant Director Grenko Arapović informed guests about the current migrant situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, current events in the work of the Service, and referred to the results that the Service has achieved so far in combating irregular migration, as well as the security risks and threats that such movements are monitored, announced the Service for Foreigners’ Affairs.

They emphasized the good cooperation of the Service with the police and security agencies in Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially in terms of exchanging information and undertaking joint activities. Deputy Buzar also pointed out the importance of holding continuous specialist training for inspectors for foreigners, and the need to strengthen the personnel and material and technical capacities of the Service.

Johnson emphasized the importance of a joint approach and cooperation in the fight against terrorism, and the need to create the best possible legal and institutional preconditions for more efficient opposition to all forms of security risks and threats.

Deputy Buzar thanked for the support provided by the US administration to the Service, and both sides expressed their readiness to improve cooperation in all aspects.
