13672030_1230531230331164_1879672191_nOn the occasion of the 21st anniversary of the genocide in Srebrenica, the largest crime since the Second World War, Mayor of Hamilton, Canada, Fred Eisenberger and members of the city Assembly and citizens of Hamilton remembered more than eight thousand men and boys killed in this terrible crime, stated the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada.

Upon the proposal by the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada and under the patronage of the Congress of Bosniaks in North America and the local Bosniak community Hamilton, by the decision of the Mayor of Hamilton Fred Eisenberger the electronic board in front of the city Assebly showed the following inscription.

“July 11 – Day of remembrance of the Srebrenica genocide in Hamilton. We pay tribute to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica. We send a clear message to the future generations – Never again”.

Citizens of Hamilton, together with their political leaders, thus showed the world that they support the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina, especially victims of aggression and the genocide. At the same time, citizens and their leaders pay tribute to the families of victims who are looking for truth and justice.

A uniform voice of citizens and leaders is that all those responsible for the genocide in Srebrenica must be punished. Although the truth and justice have not been satisfied yet, victims of the genocide are not forgotten in Canada. The Canadian Government has been continuously demonstrating sensibility and piety towards victims of the genocide in BiH, especially in Srebrenica.

This is confirmed by two resolutions of the Canadian Parliament on the genocide in Srebrenica, the exhibition on the genocide in Srebrenica in the Canadian Museum of Human Rights, one of the most prominent world museum institutions, the study about genocide in BiH in Canadian schools, and yesterday’s revelation of the memorial to the victims of the genocide in Srebrenica in Windsor, the first commemorational memorial of such kind in North America, stated the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada.

Researchers gathered around the International expert team of the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada increasingly introduce the genocide in Srebrenica and BiH into the Canadian institutions.

Researchers in the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada remain united against deniers of the genocide, united in the fight for truth about the genocide and fight for justice for the victims of the genocide, and united in the culture of remembrance, so that Srebrenica would happen never again to anyone else.

On behalf of the families of the victims, the Institute for Research of Genocide Canada thanks the political leadership and citizens of Hamilton for continuous support in the fight for truth and justice.
