Ministers in the Sarajevo Canton Government, Omer Osmanović and Haris Vranić, held a meeting with the aim of strengthening mutual interdepartmental cooperation between the Ministry of Veterans Affairs and the Ministry of Health of the Canton Sarajevo, and joint projects concerning orthopedic aids.

Since the restoration of dignity to the veteran population is the basic postulate of the Ministry of Veteran Affairs and care for them, today’s meeting was also an opportunity to exchange ideas about future projects.

As Minister Osmanović said, after housing the families of martyrs and fallen soldiers, the Ministry will, through its next projects, focus on health care, primarily for disabled military personnel.

The mutual exchange of ideas and experiences of the Ministries for Veteran Affairs and Health of Sarajevo Canton resulted in the signing of two agreements that primarily concern the health care of the veteran population from the area of Sarajevo Canton.

Through the joint interdepartmental cooperation of the two ministries, the provision of funds to improve the health care of members of the veteran population was initiated. Ministers Osmanović and Vranić expressed their satisfaction, ahead of the start of the implementation of those two important capital projects.

“As we announced earlier, the Government of the Canton of Sarajevo has given its approval for the implementation of capital projects aimed at the systematic care of veteran categories, those in their later years, but also those who feel the consequences of war, trauma or suffer from certain symptoms of stress disorders”. said Minister Osmanović.

He thanked today’s signatories, primarily Minister Vranić, for their empathy towards that sensitive category and for the efforts made to secure the necessary funds for that purpose.

“Empathy towards the veteran population is very important because these people often bear the burden of traumatic experiences, physical and emotional injuries that they suffered during their service to the state,” said Minister Osmanović.

The creation of a safe and inclusive environment for veterans, and a holistic approach to treatment, through specialized care and support, for people suffering from PTSD are needed to understand the individual experience of trauma and to provide appropriate support to veteran categories, it was said at today’s ceremony signing.

“A total of one million and 300 thousand convertible marks was allocated from the Sarajevo Canton Budget for these two important capital projects. From that amount, 1,000,000 BAM was planned for the Veterans Department project in the General Hospital, while 300,000 BAM was allocated for the Day Hospital for PTSD project “, it was announced from the Government of CS.
