Cantonal Court sentenced Four Persons to 41 Years in Prison over Distribution of Narcotics

The Cantonal Court in Sarajevo today sentenced Adnan Vuk, Maid Maslak, Armin Husić and Zijo Novalić to a total of 41.5 years in prison.

The court issued and publicly announced a verdict finding them guilty of becoming members of an organized group of people, with the aim of carrying out the unauthorized production and distribution of narcotic drugs, and of illegally producing, processing and selling and possessing and transporting narcotic drugs for the purpose of sale, and of Maid Maslak possessing firearms for which a permit is required without the permission of the competent authority.

The accused Adnan Vuk, Maid Maslak and Zijo Novalić committed the criminal offense of Unauthorized Production and Distribution of Narcotic Drugs under Article 238, paragraph 2, in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, as well as the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 1, of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, all in conjunction with Article 54 of the same Law.

The accused Armin Husić was found guilty of committing the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 2, in conjunction with paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, all in conjunction with Article 54 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition to the above, the accused Maid Maslak was found guilty under Count 4 of committing the criminal offense under Article 74, paragraph 1, item b) of the ZONDINA KS, all in conjunction with Article 54 of the Criminal Code of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Approximately 75 kilograms of drugs were seized from the accused.

For the above criminal offenses, the court sentenced the defendants: Adnan Vuk was sentenced to six years in prison for the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, and to seven years in prison for the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, and, pursuant to Article 54, paragraph 1 and paragraph 2, item b) of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, he was sentenced to a single prison sentence of 12 years.

Maida Maslak was sentenced to six years in prison for the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, nine years in prison for the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, and two years and six months in prison for the criminal offense under Article 74, paragraph 1, item b) of the ZONDINOM KS, and was sentenced to a single prison sentence of 16 years and six months under Article 54 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH.

Zijad Novalić was sentenced to four years in prison for the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, and three years in prison for the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH in conjunction with Article 55 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, and was sentenced to a single prison sentence of six years under Article 54 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH.

Armin Husić was sentenced to three years in prison for the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 2 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, and to five years in prison for the criminal offense under Article 238, paragraph 1 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, and was sentenced to a single sentence of seven years in prison pursuant to Article 54 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH.

Pursuant to Article 57 of the Criminal Code of the FBiH, the time spent in detention will be credited towards the imposed prison sentences for the accused, namely for Adnan Vuk and Maido Maslak from 25.06.2024, for Zijo Novalić from 26.06.2024, and until sent to serve the prison sentence.

The detention of the accused Adnan Vuk, Maido Maslak and Zijo Novalić was extended after the pronouncement of the verdict, which may last for another nine months, starting from the day the verdict is announced, i.e. from today.

This is a first-instance verdict against which the parties and defense attorneys can appeal, the Sarajevo Cantonal Court announced.
