Cuban leader Fidel Castro was interested in cars, but not as much as some of his ideological supporters such as, let’s say, Leonid Brezhnev.

Castro mostly used cars of deposed dictator Fulgencio Batista, and he rebuilt his fleet with Soviet cars, including presidential ZIL.

Fleet of ordinary people in Cuba for decades was consisted of old American cars imported before the revolution and modern Soviet models.

Curiosity: Castro received one of the first preproduction Lada Samara’s in 1984 as a gift.

It is interesting that the leader of the Cuban revolution strongly opposed the use of bio-fuel instead of gasoline. He considered that it is immoral to use corn and sugar cane for fuel for cars at a time when millions of people are starving.

In the photo gallery of Russian Maxim Kadakov take a look atwhich cars, among others, drove the leader of the Cuban Revolution.
