Central Bank Governor: BAM shares the Fate of the Euro and the Situation is really difficult in terms of Inflation

The Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina(BiH), Senad Softic, said yesterday in Sarajevo that, since the BiH convertible mark (BAM) is tied to the euro, we share the fate of the euro and the situation is really difficult when it comes to inflation.

”The economic situation is difficult all over the world, including in BiH in terms of increasingly pronounced price growth, i.e. inflation,” emphasized Softic.

He added that it is not the first time that the dollar and the euro are so close in value, but he expects that the situation will normalize in the upcoming period with the calming of the situation in Ukraine.

Softic claims that BAM and BiH monetary system is stable and we don’t have that kind of monetary inflation, nor can deflation happen when it comes to the BAM.

”It is good that we have a stable currency and in that sense we provide some kind of guarantee for decision makers that it will remain so in the future,” stressed Softic.
