The Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina has presented a conceptual design for a commemorative medallion dedicated to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in the World Cup, an event that aroused a special emotion, pride and sense of unity among the citizens of our country.

The medallion represents a lasting memory of one of the most important sporting moments for Bosnia and Herzegovina and a symbol of the values that sport carries in its most beautiful form: belonging, perseverance, unity and faith in success. At a time when the name of Bosnia and Herzegovina is presented on the world stage, this issue aims to preserve the memory of the emotion that brings together citizens, fans and all those who carry Bosnia and Herzegovina in their hearts.

The commemorative issue is part of the activities by which the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina commemorates events of special importance for Bosnia and Herzegovina through numismatic issues, with the aim of preserving their historical, cultural and social significance for current and future generations.

Governor of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Dr. Jasmina Selimović, pointed out:

“Bosnia and Herzegovina’s participation in the World Cup is one of those moments that go beyond a sports result. These are moments in which the flag of our country is carried with special pride, and the citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina and our diaspora, wherever they are, gather around the same feeling of belonging, hope and togetherness.

The medallion was designed as a symbol of pride, with motifs that reflect strength, dignity and belonging to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Its design combines the festive character of this historic performance and the lasting value of a numismatic edition that remains as a memory for generations to come.

I believe that this locket will be more than a memory. It will be a permanent symbol of an important moment, the emotion that connected us and the power of sports to inspire, unite and remind us how important it is to celebrate the successes of Bosnia and Herzegovina together.”

Through its motifs, the conceptual design of the medallion connects sports success and state symbols of Bosnia and Herzegovina, with the aim of remaining a permanent numismatic record of a moment that united the citizens of our country.

The medallion will be available for purchase at the end of the year, and more information on how to apply and purchase will be published via the official website http://www.cbbh.ba and the communication channels of the Central Bank of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
