After less than two years of realization of the project “Old Railway Trail”, Central Bosnia Canton (CBC) received a significant tourist resource as a basis for the development of outdoor tourism. A bicycle path of almost 100 kilometers is available to all cycling enthusiasts.

This project aimed to improve the quality of tourist infrastructure and attract and retain as many tourists as possible, and therefore increase revenue and create new jobs. New tourist products have been created as a resource base for visitors who visit the area of Central Bosnia during the summer, which will further improve the tourist offer for longer stays and more guests who prefer active tourism and outdoor tourism.

Director of the CBC Tourist Board Miroslav Matosevic said that the project involves the establishment and equipping of the trail, merging sections that are completely healed and collapsed with those in optimal condition, and that this is the first phase of the project which will continue in the future.

As part of the project, five outdoor bike service stations were set up, as well as five “smart” benches in the area of each municipality, which, in addition to benefits for cyclists, also serve the purpose of promoting the destination as bike-friendly. The trail is marked by a unified bicycle signalization that will be unique and specific in the area of Central Bosnia.
