The Central Election Commission of Bosnia and Herzegovina has increased the fees for verifying the application of a political entity to participate in the general elections in 2022, so the parties will have to pay 25,000 BAM instead of 20,000 BAM for the elections of a member of the Presidency of BiH.

According to the decision of the CEC, independent candidates who apply for the race for the Presidency of BiH will have to pay 13,000 BAM instead of 10,000 BAM.

Political parties, as stated in the decision, will pay 25,000 BAM for the certification fee for the elections to the House of Representatives of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly for these elections, and for the last elections the fee was 20,000 BAM.

When it comes to elections for deputies in the House of Representatives of the Parliament of the Federation of BiH and the National Assembly of Republika Srpska, parties will have to pay 18,000 BAM instead of 14,000, as they paid in the 2018 elections, while 13,000 will pay for participation in elections for cantonal assemblies. instead of 10,000 KM, as they paid in the last elections.

“The fee has been increased in accordance with the importance of the level of government bodies for which they apply for certification, but also due to the real situation that certain entities, mostly independent candidates, apply to participate in elections for their seats in the polling stations.”

“It can be a source of abuse in the election process, especially on election day,” Maksida Piric, the CEC’s public relations expert, told Nezavisne novine.

As with political parties, the tax has been significantly increased for independent candidates, so those who want to participate in the elections for deputies in the House of Representatives of BiH will pay 13,000 BAM instead of 10,000 for these elections, 9,000 BAM for entity assemblies instead of 7,000, and Cantonal assemblies will have to pay 7,000 BAM instead of 5,000, as was the case in the last elections.

“The paid amount of the certification fee shall be refunded in the manner specified in Article 4.16 of the BiH Election Law. The CEC shall initiate a refund procedure with the competent authority within 15 days from the date of publication of election results in official gazettes in BiH,” the Rulebook states. and the conditions for the certification of a political entity to participate in the 2022 general elections.

In essence, the tax will be refunded to political parties or independent candidates if they win 1/3 of the total number of votes won by an elected member of the Presidency, president or vice president of Srpska as a member of the BiH Presidency, the President of the Republika Srpska.

To reimburse the election fee for the entity assemblies, parties and independent candidates will have to win more than 3% of the number of valid votes.
