The Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović, spoke with the delegation of the Coordination of Basic Veterans’ Associations of the Federation of BiH about the position of the veteran population and the activities of the basic associations that represent the families of martyrs and fallen soldiers, war invalids, demobilized soldiers and winners of the highest war awards.
The delegation consisted of the president of the Organization of Families of Martyrs and Fallen Soldiers of the FBiH Almin Škrijelj, the president of the Federation of FBiH War Invalids Kerim Trakić, the president of the Federation of FBiH Veterans Sabahudin Ramić and the president of the Federation of FBiH Winners of the Highest War Awards Aljo Bošnjaković.
Representatives of the Coordination informed Bećirović about the most important activities and challenges faced by members of the veteran population.
They discussed the need to preserve the achieved level of rights and further improve regulations in the field of veterans and disabled protection.
Special attention is paid to regularly harmonizing disability benefits and other benefits with economic trends and the rise in the cost of living, as well as ensuring the legal and material security of users of these rights.
Bećirović emphasized the importance of systematically solving the issue of treatment and rehabilitation of disabled war veterans and other members of the veteran population, procurement of necessary orthopedic aids, housing and providing support to the most vulnerable families. He also pointed to the need for more efficient application of the regulations that establish priority in the employment of members of veteran categories, especially children of martyrs and fallen soldiers.
He stressed that taking care of the families of martyrs and fallen soldiers, war invalids, demobilized soldiers and winners of the highest war awards is a permanent obligation.
“Bosnia and Herzegovina society must cultivate a responsible attitude towards the people who defended the country in the most difficult moments,” said Bećirović.
During the meeting, they also discussed the inadmissible detention of citizens of Bosnia and Herzegovina in Zvornik who were carrying legal flags of the Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina. In this regard, Chairman Bećirović said that he will take concrete legal steps with the aim of stopping such pressures on citizens.
The representatives of the Coordination thanked Bećirović for the reception and continuous efforts to preserve the truth about the defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and for protecting the dignity of the defenders and affirming the value of the defense-liberation war, announced the Cabinet of the Chairman of the BiH Presidency, Denis Bećirović.
