Chairman of the Presidency of BiH Dragan Covic attended the Holy Mass at St. Leopold Mandic in Melbourne. He took the opportunity after the mass to get introduced with activities of the Croatian Catholic Center and the Australian-Bosnian Forum.

Josip Vranjes, the Head of the Center, noted that the HKC represents the center of all the events of Croatian immigrants in this part of Australia and it is nurturing relations with the homeland through various projects. He said that the Croatian Catholic Center “St. Leopold Bogdan Mandic” Sunshine/Melbourne is traditionally organizing humanitarian actions to help poor students in BiH, who are under the protection of the foundation “For wisdom and nobility – pro sapientia et clementia”.

After the visit to the Croatian Catholic Center, the Chairman of the Presidency of BiH met with the delegation of the Australian-Bosnian Academic Forum.

The main topic of their meeting was the exchange of educational experiences and improvement of the cooperation between the academic communities of BiH and Australia, as well as the importance of the EU path of BiH.

Covic introduced the delegation with the current progress of BiH on the Euro-Atlantic path, and he also expressed his expectations that our country will get candidate status by the beginning of next year. They agreed that the EU path of BiH must be a priority for all of its citizens, both in the homeland and abroad.

The Australian-Bosnian Academic Forum organized several conferences and symposia on topics that are related to BiH. The meeting was also attended by members of the forum, namely Vedran Drakulic, Sead Omerovic, Sanela Osmic, Rijad Kucuk and Hariz Halilovic.

Covic emphasized the importance of their work because education and science are the best representatives of our country everywhere in the world. He also invited the delegation to visit their homeland, with the aim to realize a better cooperation with our academic community.
