The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, stated that at today’s third high-level Political Forum on the European integration of BiH in Sarajevo, the unquestionable commitment of the representatives of all institutions and authorities in BiH was shown when it comes to the European path and work on the remaining reforms.

After the forum co-chaired by Kristo and European Commissioner for Neighborhood and Enlargement Oliver Varhelyi, the Chairperson of the BiH Council of Ministers pointed out that the decision to open accession negotiations with Bosnia and Herzegovina is in some way limited and concerns the fulfillment of the remaining obligations that we are obliged to fulfill.

She added that BiH institutions in fulfilling those reforms also had on their agenda the Election Law of BiH, the Law on Courts of BiH and many other laws, but they came to a situation that was caused by the OHR by imposing the Election Law of BiH, which in some way called into question the functioning of the parliamentary of the majority at the BiH level and decision-making through institutions.

“I want to say that our determination is that we all have to find a way out of this situation together and continue implementing the remaining reforms, and that we must not allow it to come to a standstill,” Kristo pointed out.

She stated that they must clearly demonstrate that they are ready to respect each other and that, through respect for the constitutional structure and constitutional competences of the coordination mechanism, they can make the decisions that the EU has put before them.

Kristo emphasized that the implementation of the EU Plan for the Western Balkans was also discussed and that they received a proposal for funds for Bosnia and Herzegovina in the amount of 1.8 billion euros from the European Commission, and that it is necessary to fulfill the assumptions in order to implement the first tranche already this month.

She explained that for this it is necessary to pass the Law on the Budget of BiH Institutions and that as soon as possible a proposal for the law should be drawn up and submitted to the Council of Ministers in order to send it to the Presidency of BiH.

Kristo expressed her satisfaction that they had a constructive and open conversation at today’s meeting, noting that they are aware that there are certain challenges, but that with the building of trust, mutual dialogue and through decision-making in the government institutions of Bosnia and Herzegovina, we can and should move forward.

“I want to say once again that I will continue to be open and that I will be a link between institutions and all levels of government so that they will do everything to offer solutions where there is a certain problem and not create an even bigger problem,” said Kristo.

The forum was attended by the deputy chairpersons of the BiH Council of Ministers, members of the Collegium and chairmen of the clubs of representatives and delegates in both houses of the Parliamentary Assembly of BiH, the prime ministers of entities and ten cantons in the Federation of BiH, and the mayor of Brčko District of BiH, BHRT writes.
