The Minister of Finance and Treasury of BiH, Srđan Amidžić, and the head of the World Bank Office for BiH and Montenegro, Kristofer Sheldon, signed the Agreement on a grant in the amount of 8,000,000 euros, or about 16 million BAM.

The grant is intended for financing the development of the waterway on the Sava river corridor, which includes demining the right bank and represents the first phase.

This project will improve flood protection and improve cross-border cooperation in the area of water on the Sava and Drina corridors.

The grant was approved by the Western Balkans Investment Framework, and will be managed by the International Bank for Reconstruction and Development. The project will be implemented with the support of the Ministry of Communication and Transport of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

So far, the World Bank’s investments in Bosnia and Herzegovina amount to over 2.5 billion US dollars through 124 financed projects. The current portfolio of the World Bank is USD 558.11 million in 14 financed projects.

Minister Amidžić thanked Sheldon for his cooperation so far. The head of the World Bank office for BiH and Montenegro, Christopher Sheldon, expressed his satisfaction and announced further support for projects in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

Since 1996, the World Bank has had a very significant role in the recovery of Bosnia and Herzegovina, which it has maintained even today. The World Bank’s investments relate to the financing of a wide range of sectors such as transport, gasification, demining, housing, health, education, public works, agriculture and micro-financing – the Ministry of Finance and Treasury of BiH announced.
