The Chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, after meeting with the Prime Minister of Hungary Viktor Orbán in Sarajevo, said that the two countries have good friendly and neighborly relations, with no open questions.
Orban arrived this morning on an official visit to Bosnia and Herzegovina. Kristo thanked for the friendly, honest and open conversation that went in the direction of the interests of both countries.
“During the conversation, we emphasized our good, especially friendly, and we can say neighborly relations without any open questions, with an emphasis on improving and strengthening ties in various segments of cooperation, from the energy, especially in these times of energy crisis,” said Kristo .
She stated that through today’s meeting and conversation, they informed the Hungarian Prime Minister in a special way about the current political situation in Bosnia and Herzegovina, relations, the functioning of institutions, as well as the priority and focus of the work of the BiH Council of Ministers.
She pointed out that they expressed satisfaction and gratitude to Hungary, which supports Bosnia and Herzegovina on its European path.
“We emphasized our good economic cooperation, which is manifested through various investments, concluded contracts and agreements. We also have a large number of contracts and agreements in the procedure and we hope that through our bilateral cooperation we will do everything to ensure that the implementation of these agreements that are in the procedure as soon as possible end faster for the benefit of the countries’ economic cooperation,” said Kristo.
She emphasized that Bosnia and Herzegovina wants to have good cooperation with Hungary on the European road.
“We want to strengthen relations and I believe that this meeting and Orban’s stay in Bosnia and Herzegovina will be a significant step forward in the relations between the two countries,” Krišto concluded.
According to Orban, Bosnia and Herzegovina can always count on Hungary as a responsible neighbor policy.
“The second thing is that we observe with great admiration how you maintain the most complicated political system in the world. It is sometimes difficult for us Hungarians to maintain a small coalition, not such a complicated system as yours. We admire how you manage to keep the country functional. The third point is that we share the same fate. We suffered communism of a different kind, but it was still communism. You are not strangers to us, you are part of the family,” emphasized Orban.
As he said, today he informed Chairman Kristo about the processes within the European Union.
“I said that everything is in turmoil and that major transformations are underway in the European economy, technology and security policy. It is certainly the war in Ukraine and the EU’s participation in it. We, the Hungarians, see it as Europe needs all the strength, energy and dynamics. We are in a process that needs to be stopped and reversed. Europe will not be able to implement it if it relies only on the forces it has now. New dynamics, new participants are necessary. Therefore, for us Hungarians, the Balkans are not a problem but the last reserve of European resources Orban pointed out.
Today, Orban will also meet with members of the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the collegium of both houses of the BiH Parliamentary Assembly.
It is planned that he will also visit Banja Luka today.
