The newly appointed chairperson of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Borjana Krišto, said in her address at the World Economic Forum (WEF) in Davos and during the special session ‘Diplomatic Dialogue on the Western Balkans’ that Bosnia and Herzegovina chooses cooperation and openness as a response to the global crisis.

She emphasized that the new convocation of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina will work on improving relations in the region and intensifying cooperation with the European Union.

“More than ever before, we are aware that we have to focus on what unites us and not on what divides us,” said Krišto, adding that Bosnia and Herzegovina remains committed to the Berlin Process as a fundamental mechanism for the path to competitive and stable European societies.

She referred to the global challenges that societies face today and added that the consequences of the global crisis have even more significant negative repercussions on Western Balkans societies, especially if cooperation and integration are replaced by conflict.

She also said that the current crisis must be turned into a tool to speed up the energy transition and remove all obstacles to developing new, clean and sustainable technologies, the Council of Ministers of BiH announced.

As an adequate response to the current social crisis of trust and solidarity in the countries of the Western Balkans, Krišto singled out better cooperation with the European Union and its institutions, stressing that Bosnia and Herzegovina, and the Western Balkans, need the EU’s unequivocal support more than ever.

“Despite all the challenges, the European Union is the only community in the world whose fundamental values are the basis for the progress of humanity and societies. This is why I am proud of the candidate status of our country, which we received on December 15 last year, thanks to the engagement of the member states and the institutions of the European Union,” said Krišto.
