Chairwoman of BiH Council of Ministers Sends Letter to Conference of European Rabbis

The Conference of European Rabbis confirmed that it had received a letter from Borjana Kristo, the Chairwoman of the Council of Ministers of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in which she expressed sincere regret over the recent cancellation of the Conference of European Rabbis and extended an invitation to Chief Rabbi Pinchas Goldschmidt to come for a visit.

Goldschmidt considers the gesture welcome but also states that the apology must come from those who are responsible.

“Federal Minister Adnan Delic, who led the public ban of our rabbinical meeting in BiH, should be the one to express regret. If he refuses to apologize, we call on the government to publicly distance itself from him. Anything less shows the toleration of intolerance at the heart of the government, despite the letters they have privately sent us. The Conference of European Rabbis remains committed to protecting religious freedoms and ensuring that no European country is allowed to exclude Jews or any Jewish community,” stated the Conference of European Rabbis.
