Chaos in Banja Luka, Borac Fans attacked the Hungarians during the Night

The Republika Srpska Ministry of Internal Affairs issued a press release after a fierce fan conflict that took place in the center of Banja Luka last night.

In the night behind us, the fans of Borac attacked the visiting supporters of Ferencvaros, who arrived from Hungary for the play-off match for the European League, which will be played tonight at 21:00 in Banja Luka.

Bats and torches were used during the conflict, and three fans were injured. As the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the RS pointed out, several persons were deprived of their liberty due to violent behavior.

At around 12 o’clock tonight, several unknown persons physically attacked Ferencvaros fans from Hungary in Kralja Petra I Karađorđevića street and in a restaurant in Banja Luka, during which, according to the currently available information, three persons suffered physical injuries.

Damage also occurred in the restaurant, and a Mercedes bus was also damaged in Omladinska Street in Banja Luka.

The injured persons were given medical assistance at the University Clinical Center of the RS.

“The Banja Luka Police Department, in cooperation with other organizational units of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, undertakes planned measures and actions to secure the European League qualification football match at the City Stadium in Banja Luka between Borac and Ferencavroš from Hungary.

According to the above, today from 6 p.m. measures to prohibit the serving of alcohol in catering facilities in the immediate vicinity of the City Stadium”, stated the Banja Luka Police Department and appealed to the citizens:

“We appeal to the citizens and to all those who plan to attend the mentioned sports event, to contribute with responsible and dignified behavior so that the event takes place peacefully and without incidents, and we note that any illegal behavior will be sanctioned,” the statement added.
