Although it is eight days since we got an approval for the export of milk and dairy products from B&H, we already decided to place cheeses to the demanding European market, and BH dairies are optimistic when it comes to conquering the customers in the EU.
Products of the Diary Livno were exported on Tuesday afternoon to the business partner in Croatia, and there were no major problems while crossing the border.
“5.6 tons of cheese were exported to Croatia, to the partner with who the cooperation was agreed earlier“, as said from the Dairy Livno, adding that in the next period, they are planning to export the new amounts of this dairy product.
Cheese is a hope of the Sarajevo dairy Milkos, which soon plans to export first amounts of feta cheese to Croatia, and several other products, such as cream.
“I am convinced that the customers in Croatia will recognize the quality of our products. Feta cheese is very good exported to Croatia even before the 1st July 2013“, recalled Adin Fakic, director of the Sarajevo dairy Milkos.
He said that their products should be in the neighboring country until the end of this month, and added that they are not thinking about the export of milk to Croatia, because the prices is too low.
According to his words, they are plannig to export products to Italy.
“We are negotiating for the export to Italy and in the next few days, we should establish he cooperation in this respect at the meeting in Sarajevo. When it comes to the price and quality, we are very competitive, not only at the European, but at the world market as well“, said Fakic.
As a reminder, the Standing Committee for the food chain and animal health of the European Commission decided on 9th September in Brussels that B&H can export milk and dairy products to countries of the EU.
The Committee rejected the appeal of Croatia, which means that mention four dairies from B&H got permission for the export.
