y295098109233959Construction of a replica of Titanic in original dimensions started in China, more than a century after the sinking of the biggest ship of its time.

Expected date of completion is the end of 2018, after which the ship will be anchored in the Chinese province Sichuan, located hundreds of kilometers from sea. Nearly 300 meters long ship will be constructed by the company Wuchang Shipbuilding Industry.

This replica will have a dining hall, theatre, luxurious cabins and a pool. Guests will have the opportunity to have a dinner and stay overnight at the ship which is identical to Titanic, but they will not have the opportunity to sail. Visitors will also have the opportunity to see the simulation of original collision of Titanic with the iceberg.

The Titanic sunk in 1912, after hitting an iceberg. The accident killed more than 1.500 people. Chinese Titanic will be the first original-size replica of that ship.

For the purpose of the filming of the movie Titanic, which is very popular in China, director James Cameron made a replica which was 10 percent smaller than the original sunken ship.
