TE GackoOn behalf of the Government of the RS, the Minister of Industry, Energy and Mining of the RS Petar Djokic yesterday signed the Memorandum on cooperation in the implementation of project of construction of thermal power plant Gacko II with the representatives from the Chinese company Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited.

”There is a real need to construct a new thermal block with the capacity from 300 to 500 megawatts of installed power along with the existing block Gacko I. All mining assessments conducted so far have shown that there are sufficient quantities of coal and that another thermal power plant which can operate undisturbed can be constructed in the future”, said Djokic and added that the Chinese partners are ready to provide a favorable loan for this project.

The contractor will be Elektroprivreda RS, actually the Mine and the Thermal Power Plants Gacko, and the following stage is the drafting of feasibility and economical justification study.

The Dongfang company is currently working on 40 projects worldwide and it has constructed more than 1.000 facilities in this field, among which is the TPP Stanari whose inclusion in the network is expected by May next year.
