Chinese President Xi Jinping sent a letter to Bosnia and Herzegovina’s (BiH) members of the presidency, stating that relations between the two countries show a good development trend, the presidency said in a statement on Thursday.

The letter, hailingpositive progress in practical cooperation in all areas, was handed out on Thursday here during the meeting of Chinese ambassador to BiH Ji Ping and member of BiH presidency Sefik Dzaferovic.

“I give a great importance to the development of relations between China and BiH, and I am ready, together with you, to make efforts to continuously expand the friendly relations of our countries, to the well-being of our countries and our peoples,” was stated in Xi’s letter.

During the meeting, two interlocutors exchanged views on the current political situation in the two countries, agreeing that the mutual interest lies in the continuation of intensive cooperation.

Ji and Dzaferovic emphasized the initiative “17 + 1” and implementation of infrastructure and energy projects in BiH as one of the most important modes of cooperation.

The first 16+1 Summit was held in Warsaw, Poland, in 2012, when Prime Minister of China Wen Jiabao announced a comprehensive initiative on cooperation with 16 Central and Eastern European countries, including BiH. As part of the 17+1 Initiative, BiH has seen positve trends in the fields of investments, transport, finance, science, education, and culture.
