Chinese Researchers have developed an electronic Skin

Chinese researchers have recently developed a new electronic skin with what they say is “excellent isothermal regulation”.

Researchers from Southern University of Science and Technology developed this thermoregulatory electronic skin with biomimetic structures, which mimics the human body’s thermoregulatory mechanism by integrating a flexible thermoelectric device with a hydrogel composite material.

Through a delicate balance of heat generation and dissipation, thermo-e-skin maintained a stable surface temperature of 35 degrees Celsius over a wide range of ambient temperatures from 10 degrees to 45 degrees Celsius, according to a study published in the journal “Nano Energy”.

In recent years, electronic skin has realized human-like haptic functions and formed stable neurofeedback imitating the human body to varying degrees, making it an ideal component for future intelligent robots, China International Radio reported.

Its thermoregulatory function is limited to simple heating or cooling, which means it is unable to maintain isothermal regulation for long periods of time in complex and changing environments.
