Women chamber choir ‘Banjalučanke’ has won two golden medals in the categories of women choirs and folk music at 14th International Competition in Budapest, reports Glas Srpske. The choir was led by conductor Mladen Matović.
The competition was held from 24 to 28 March in organisation of the World Choir Association ‘Musica Mundi’ – INTERCULTUR.
Matović said that they are very happy and proud of their success, because a huge number of choirs participated.
‘Banjalučanke’ were the only representative of BIH and they sung very demanding compositions of Mokranjac, Babić, Ljondev, Savić and Gostuški.
Matović added that they wanted to present Banja Luka in the best possible way and they are also happy with their gold medals from Linz, Venice and Malta, and Olympic silver medals from China and the USA.
Matović noted that this competition was the first international test on the road to World Choir Olympic which will be held in Riga in 2014, and before that, ‘Banjalučanke’ will participate at two more competitions in Germany and in Spain, said Mladen Matović.
