Christian Schmidt sent a Message to BiH Politicians: “The Conclusion is simple”

The High Representative in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Christian Schmidt, spoke yesterday, commenting on the claims that appeared in the public in recent days:

“Namely, the claims that the issue of ownership of state property has already been resolved in Dayton are not true. It is a fundamental issue that has yet to be resolved in this country. Therefore, the conclusion is simple: BiH politicians – do your job!

When it comes to the process of how to reach a solution, we need technical and legal discussions that will lead to an acceptable and sustainable solution to the issue of property distribution between the state, entities, Brcko District, cantons and municipalities.”

Also, the high representative reminds that the entities do not have the right to separate from BiH and legally exist only on the basis of the Dayton Constitution:

“The sovereignty and territorial integrity of BiH are unquestionable and I firmly reject any irresponsible actions in this sense.”

The High Representative reminds that borders within BiH do not exist and cannot exist, and that no obstacles to freedom of movement within BiH are acceptable.

“The task of the politicians in BiH is to finally implement Dayton in its entirety, and not to talk about it with invented nonsense. Respect for the country’s constitutional order is the cornerstone of long-term peace, stability and progress in BiH. The Constitution of BiH is an integral part of the General Framework Agreement for Peace, and the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH are final, binding and must be implemented,” concluded Christian Schmidt.
