Today is the Holy Saturday, a Christian holiday that is celebrated the day before Easter. It is the last day of the Holy Week and the day when believers think about the torment and death of Jesus Christ.
Eucharistic celebration is not celebrated on this day and there is no sharing of holy communion. Believers only visit a specially arranged God’s grave in the church.
A special characteristic of Holy Saturday is Easter Vigil at night. The Church starts with Easter Vigil at around 9 PM, and it ends at about 6 AM on Sunday. It is a memorial to Christ’s liberation work, torment and death, as well as his resurrection.
Since the Holy Saturday is the day of preparation for the Easter, many Christians are fasting on this day as well. Families are peacefully preparing for the Easter by cleaning and decorating their houses, and conducting all other preparations for this great Christian holiday.
