‘Cimburijada’ in Zenica gathered several Hundred Citizens

The traditional “Spring Dawn – Zenica Čimburijada” is being held on the banks of the Bosna River in Zenica today, which, in good weather, brought together several hundred citizens of the city and guests.

The President of the Zenica Citizens’ Forum Mirsad Mujkić said that due to the month of Ramadan, there were slightly fewer groups this year, but the Kamberovića Polje park was occupied by Zenica schoolchildren and students, who hosted their colleagues from the University of Zadar and the University of Ljubljana.

“We are continuing our tradition of organizing the Spring Dawn, or Zenica Čimburijada, which was included in December last year on the List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina, and automatically the intangible heritage of BiH. We have prepared a rich accompanying program, and the atmosphere at Kamberovića Polje has never been better,” said Mujkić.

As he says, through the 10th competition in the preparation of Zenica Čimburijada, “they are trying to find out what the secret of that recipe is”.

Serbian Mara Davidović from Negotin, who moved to Ljubljana for her master’s studies, has been visiting Zenica and the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Zenica with her Slovenian colleagues this week.

“We have been here since Monday. We are doing field research on the neighborhood. That is our main topic. It is great for us, we meet new people every day and they are all hospitable and excellent conversationalists. We really did not have any problems. What’s more, it was great, and we ate well,” said Davidović, noting that this is her first stay in Zenica, which she only passed through in transit on her way to Sarajevo.

Traditionally, among the first participants in this event is the famous Zenica mountaineer Anto Šakić, known as Štaka.

“Ninety percent of our society has been gathering here for 40-45 years. It’s our tradition. Unfortunately, there aren’t many of us today, but some will come a little later. However, we follow our tradition. For me, this is one big teferic – bigger than any holiday. Let’s wish this our river Bosnia and Chimbur. Everyone is welcome as our guests,” says Šakić.

“Cimburijada” is organized on the occasion of the arrival of spring, which arrived in these parts yesterday morning, when the people of Zenica celebrate the City Day.
