Polling stations were closed in the Sarajevo municipality of Stari Grad, where citizens declared whether they were in favor of recalling the current mayor, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić. The unofficial results that N1 had a look at say that Hadžibajrić was replaced, that is, that the referendum succeeded and that the difference is unattainable.

As Mirza Imamović, president of the Commission for Impeachment, told N1, the citizens had their say.

“In 46 places in the Old Town and through four mobile teams, 4,786 voters or 11.2 percent went to the referendum,” said Imamović.

When it comes to official information, it will be known after the arrival and processing of all ballots

36,193 voters had the right to decide the fate of Hadžibajrić’s fourth term. Ibrahim Hadžibajrić has been the mayor of the Stari Grad municipality since 2008.

This was the first referendum on recall from multi-party elections in Sarajevo Canton.

The decision to initiate the impeachment was made by the Municipal Council of Stari Grad Sarajevo at an extraordinary session held on June 12, and formed the Commission for the implementation of the impeachment procedure.
