26stipendijastipendijeThe Mayor of Sarajevo Ivo Komšić and the Director of the IKRE Fund Enisa Rustempašić signed in Sarajevo yesterday an agreement for stipends and education for children of soldiers, soldiers who were killed and victims of war, so these stipends are reserved for those who are in special need.

The value of the agreement is 200.000 KM, and the stipends will be given to 221 students, of which 120 are elementary school students and 101 are high schoolers.

The amount of the scholarship is 100 KM a month, and the stipends will be paid out for nine months in 2013.

“The city of Sarajevo is continuing this stipend program for six years in a row, with the goal of educating and improving the conditions for the lives of children of soldiers and victims of war, who mainly come from larger families. Honestly, this is not a large amount for one stipend, but our intentions are honest and we will certainly continue in the future with support so that these young people will not be forgotten’’, said Komšić.

He added that he wishes to help young people to gain a quality education that represents the basis of development for a better and more successful live, as well as for the future of this city and country.

The Director of the IKRE Fund Enisa Rustepašić thanked the Mayor and the City Council on behalf of the recipients of the stipend and their families, expressing confidence that the stipends will be an incentive for children to learn better.

The Deputy Mayor Ranko Čović said during the signing that these children, as a result of their hard work and success in extracurricular activities, deserve the stipends.
