12980566_1753031461600197_1143815155_nYouth Initiative for Human Rights in BiH (YIHR BiH) today marked the 6th of April – Day of Sarajevo with traditional painting of “Sarajevo Roses”.

“Sarajevo Roses” are visible traces of mortar shells fired on the city during the 4-year siege from 1992 and 1995 and they represent a symbol of suffering of the citizens of Sarajevo.

On this occasion activists of the Initiative laid red roses on the section from the Square of the children of Sarajevo to the Cathedral, in front of which were placed war posters from the book, “Evil does not live here”.

YIHR BiH is marking important dates that are related to suffering in wars, encouraging dialogue among young people about the events from the past in order to deal with the past, which is a precondition for building future based on understanding, respect and trust.
