BiH Minister of Defense Zukan Helez received the Commander of the NATO Headquarters in Sarajevo, Brigadier General Pamela McGaha, with her associates.

Deputy Ministers of Defense of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Slaven Galić and Aleksandar Goganović, also attended the meeting.

The officials discussed the current situation in the Ministry of Defense and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the challenges facing the defense system, and key activities in the coming period.

Minister Helez briefed the Commander of the NATO HQ on the activities in the BiH Ministry of Defense and highlighted the reaction of the MoD and the Armed Forces of BiH regarding the devastating earthquakes that hit the Republic of Turkey and Syria, adding that the Armed Forces of BiH team conducted a seven-day search and rescue mission in the most severely affected regions in Turkey.

Helez thanked for the quick implementation of the decisions from last year’s NATO summit in Madrid, and the approval of the NATO aid package for the defense and security system of BiH – DCB initiative.

McGaha stressed the firm commitment of NATO Headquarters Sarajevo to continue providing support to the MoD and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the further process of defense reform, stating that today’s meeting is an opportunity to listen and understand what are the priorities of the MoD of Bosnia and Herzegovina in future cooperation.
