The President of Serbia, Aleksandar Vucic, said after the conversation with the President of the Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, in Belgrade, that they agreed to soon organize a meeting of all officials of Serbia and the RS, on the territory of the RS.
“I listened to Dodik with special attention regarding all the events in the RS and Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), and we agreed to organize a meeting of all state bodies on the territory of the RS as soon as possible,” noted Vucic.
The meeting between Dodik and Vucic is taking place at a time of intensifying international criticism of the president of RS and for his actions that are considered destabilizing for the state of BiH.
Dodik’s statements are against the perspective of BiH’s membership in the European Union (EU), said on Wednesday, July 19th, European Head of Diplomacy Josep Borrell.
“The act of moving away from the constitutional order must be stopped. Divisive rhetoric, threats of secession, threats to territorial integrity, glorification of war criminals must stop, because there is no place for such in Europe,” Borrell said at the fifth meeting of the BiH-EU Stabilization and Association Council, held in Brussels.
Gabriel Escobar confirmed in his address to the members of the Foreign Affairs Committee of the House of Representatives of the United States (U.S.) on Tuesday, July 18th, that Dodik’s statements also produce negative effects outside of BiH.
“Dodik’s persistent, secessionist and anti-democratic actions threaten the stability, security and prosperity of the country and the wider region,” the U.S. official said.
