On the occasion of the 33rd anniversary of the hijacking of the passenger train “Lovćen 671” in the Štrpci station and the martyrdom of 20 innocent people, the victims’ families and friends will hold a commemoration that will be held on Friday in Podgorica at the memorial to the civilian victims on Pobrežje, and in Bijelo Polje at the “Sahat života” memorial obelisk.
After the laying of flowers in Bijelo Polje, at 2 p.m. in the Gallery of the Cultural Center, an exhibition of newspaper articles will be opened that reminds of the details of this crime, and on that occasion the “Tomo Buzov” award will be awarded, in memory of courage and the fight for the truth.
The Bosniak Council, the association “Strepci against Oblivion”, the Civil Alliance and the Action for Human Rights called on the Government of Montenegro and the relevant ministries to “undertake all activities that can contribute to establishing justice, punishing all perpetrators and perpetrators of crimes, finding the remains of the victims, and contribute to the permanent social protection of the families of civilian victims of the war,” writes Vijesti.
“Time brings oblivion, but the Bosniak people and all honorable people in Montenegro must not and will not forget the victims of the kidnapping and brutal crime against civilians in Štrpci in 1993. Their tragic fate is a reminder that the executors and the perpetrators must not go unpunished,” said the association “Strpci against Oblivion”, the Bosniak Council in Montenegro, the Civic Alliance and Action for Human Rights.
The abduction of passengers from the “Lovćen” train on the Belgrade-Bar line took place on February 27, 1993 at Štrpci station, when members of the Army of the Republika Srpska from Višegrad took 20 passengers from the train, of which 18 were Bosniaks, one Croat and one unidentified person.
The abductees were taken to the village of Prelovo, where they were searched, robbed, beaten and tied with wire, and then taken by trucks to the vicinity of Višegrad, in the atar of the village of Mušići, where they were killed.
The victims were Esad Kapetanović, Iljaz Ličina, Fehim Bakija, Šećo Softić, Rifat Husović, Halil Zupčević, Senad Đečević, Jusuf Rastoder, Ismet Babačić, Tome Buzov, Adem Alomerović, Muhedin Hanić, Safet Preljević, Džafer Topuzović, Rasim Ćorić, Fikret Memović, Fevzija Zeković, Nijazim Kajević, Zvjezdan Zuličić and one unknown person.
The remains of Halil Zupčević were found at the end of 2009 on the shore of Lake Perućac, and those of Rasim Ćorić, Jusuf Rastoder and Iljaz Ličina in the same lake in 2010.
Since then, there has been no progress in finding the remains of the remaining victims.
