The Commission for Impeachment of the Municipal Mayor of Old Town Sarajevo, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, determined the final results of citizens’ voting in the referendum held on July 23, and after combining all ballots from regular polling stations, unconfirmed ballots, mobile teams, absentee voting and voting by mail from abroad.

According to the data of the Commission for impeachment of the municipal mayor, 4,864 citizens voted in the referendum out of a total of 36,193 registered citizens. There were 4,841 valid ballots in total, and 53 invalid ballots.

3,791 voters voted for the impeachment of the municipal mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić, and 1,050 voters voted against the impeachment.

Percentage-wise, 13.52 percent of voters voted in the referendum for the impeachment of the municipal mayor Ibrahim Hadžibajrić in the Old Town of Sarajevo.

It is important to note that the entire process was carried out in accordance with the provisions of the Instructions for the implementation of the impeachment procedure of the municipal mayor, and was carried out transparently and in accordance with the legal regulations in order to ensure the accuracy and credibility of the results of the referendum, the municipal press office announced.

The Prosecutor’s Office of the Canton of Sarajevo requested the extension of detention for Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and Alma Destanović for another three months, Alem Hamzić, the spokesman of this judicial institution, confirmed to the media.

The reasons for the extension of detention are the same as in the earlier requests.

“Detention was requested because both could repeat the crime, and Hadžibajrić could influence the witnesses. Also, there is a fear for Alma that she could flee Bosnia and Herzegovina because she has another citizenship,” explained Hamzić.

The CS Prosecutor’s Office charges them with organized crime, abuse of position or authority, money laundering, and receiving and giving gifts.

It is suspected that from 2019 to May 2023, Ibrahim Hadžibajrić and Elmedin Karišik organized and managed a criminal group whose members were Alma Destanović, Seid Hadžibajrić and other persons.

Individual members of the group communicated with each other through the installed Sky application, in order to cover their tracks and ultimately arrange the commission of criminal acts.

So, they are accused of illegally leasing parking spaces in the area of the Stari Grad Municipality for at least three companies over which they had control and illegally earned hundreds of thousands of convertible marks.

Suspect Hadžibajrić is additionally charged with the illegal allocation of real estate to a person from the Stari Grad area, from whom he received a bribe in the amount of 150,000 BAM.
