One of the largest oil companies in the world, “Shell”, expressed interest in cooperation with representatives of the Government of FBiH when it comes to research and exploitation of black gold in the territory of FBiH.

Representatives of “Shell” already announced the meeting with leaders of the Government of FBiH on October 23, which will take place in Sarajevo. The “Shell” announced to invest 700 million USD in the research, with which they expressed their strong will to return to negotiations with the Government of the FBiH and to obtain a concession. This information was confirmed by Nermin Dzindic, the Minister of Energy in the Government of FBiH.

“It is true that they have scheduled a meeting and we will see what will happen. There is interest for sure,” said Dzindic.

This company suddenly withdrew from the negotiations with the Government of FBiH back in 2015 and they signed Memorandum of Understanding in 2011, which was extended in 2013 and 2014. However, when the Memorandum expired on October 4, 2014, the cooperation was not continued.

In the negotiations with the government, this company wanted concession for the search for oil in the area of Dinarides. “Shell” estimated that oil lies at a depth of 4,000 to 8,000 meters in this area.

They planned to allocate a total of 75 million USD for just one borehole.

Dzindic confirmed that at the beginning of next week will be held a meeting where will be made a final decision on calling for a public call for a selection of international consultant who will negotiate with “Shell”.

Minister noted that the job of an international consultant is to conduct negotiations and choose the best expert company to sign the most favorable contract for the FBiH.
