Ballistic missiles fired by Iran damaged parts of the military base that hosts advanced Israeli F-35 fighter jets in its central and eastern parts, satellite images confirm.

Footage taken by Planet Labs PBC showed damage to two hangars at the Nevatim military base in the Negev region. While one hangar was completely destroyed, another adjacent hangar was partially damaged.

At least two craters were created by rockets hitting the base during the night of October 1. Verified footage of the attack shows rockets being fired at and around the military base.

Satellite images show no damage to aircraft stationed at the base. However, it is possible that one or two planes were damaged if they were in the hangars at the time of the missile strike.

After the attack, the Israel Defense Forces (IDF) acknowledged that its military bases had been hit, but denied any damage to fighter jets, other aircraft, drones, munitions or critical infrastructure.

In a statement, the IDF said the rockets damaged “office buildings and other maintenance areas” at the bases. He described the attacks as “ineffective”.

Within hours of the Iranian rocket attacks, Israel carried out airstrikes on southern Gaza, killing at least 32 people. According to US media reports, the United States has provided Israel with intelligence on upcoming Iranian missile attacks.

This advance intelligence could have prompted the IDF to take action to protect its key military resources, including sending aircraft airborne and out of harm’s way.

After the attack, many claimed on social media that at least 20 fifth-generation F-35 fighter jets were damaged or destroyed.

On Tuesday night, Iran fired about 180 ballistic missiles, including its “Fattah-2” medium-range hypersonic missiles, at several cities across Israel.

While Israel has vowed to retaliate against Iran, Tehran has warned of further escalation if attacked, Klix.ba writes.
