Construction of the Hilton Hotel has officially started in BiH

Less than a month after it was announced that the “Neretva” hotel, a kind of symbol of Mostar, will be part of the prestigious “Hilton” hotel chain, today the continuation of works on the renovation of this building was made official, the portal “Avaz” learns.

A franchise agreement was concluded in May

In Berlin, on May 15, the company “Interšped” Sarajevo concluded a franchise agreement with one of the world’s largest hotel chains Hilton, which announced the opening of two hotels in BiH – Hotel Neretva Mostar , Tapestry Collection by Hilton in Mostar and Hampton by Hilton Sarajevo City Centre, which will be opened by 2026 the latest.

Today marked the beginning of the continuation of the works, which started after almost five years, when the second phase was completed, in which, in addition to the rough concrete works, the roof construction was also completed.

National monument of Bosnia and Herzegovina

As in the previous two phases, the works will be carried out under the supervision of the Institute for the Protection of Monuments of FBiH, since the “Neretva” hotel is on the Provisional List of National Monuments of BiH.

Since the investor is obliged to maintain the authenticity of the building, Samid Sinanović, the project manager, said that the exterior of the building will be fully executed in accordance with the project documentation, on the basis of which approval for construction was given.

Although, as he said, there was a whole list of reasons for concern from local residents to the profession that indicated visible deviations from the old construction, however, this will not happen.

“Definitely, this is not the final appearance of the reinforced concrete part of the building. There will be no openings like this in the end. Right now, we are setting up the scaffolding for the execution of the works in such a way that this concrete will be covered with facade bricks, and then the shapes of the openings will be repeated as they were and are, after all, visible on the northern wing of the building, including the repetition of the balcony,” explained Sinanović.

Hotel “Neretva” was built in 1892 in a specific pseudo-Moorish style that was dominant at the time, and was largely destroyed during the war.

80 rooms and several restaurants

The work in this phase, especially the installation of the facade, will probably be the most demanding.

Parallel to that, Hilton as a hotel group and everything that the satisfaction of those standards requires is demanding in its own way. In the end, the result that we will realize in the facility that was a hotel for 100 years and hosted travelers and high-ranking guests, after 30 years, will be what it was again, but in a new guise and under the Hilton cap, is a demanding task. But the team of professionals, both local and international, that the investor gathered is at least a guarantee that it will go well – Sinanović said.

The hotel will have 80 rooms, several restaurants, a spectacular terrace, an indoor pool, a spa center and other top hotel facilities.
