karaulaOn 14 April the public enterprise Ceste Federacije BiH will sign the agreement regarding the construction works on the tunnel Karaula, with the contractor Strabag AG from Austria.

Ceste BiH reminds that the road route M 18 Šićki Brod – Semizovac was built 50 years ago, so that it has very poor technical elements, hairpin horizontal and vertical curves, greater longitudinal slope and insufficient width of driveway.

Moreover, it is said that with the construction of tunnel Karaula, the current driveway length will be shortened by 3,6 km, and the highest saddle point is lowered by 120 m. The projected longitude of the tunnel will be 902,13 m. Additionally, according to the regulations and tunnel longitude, an additional tunnel for emergency exit with longitude of 420 m will also be built.

The agreed price will be 24.257.083,13 BAM, and the deadline for the end of construction works is 10 months.

The Roughton International from the United Kingdom and the Institut IPSA will supervise the construction works under the agreed price of 914.717,70 BAM. Geotechnical studio will be the sub consultant.
