Contracts for the Construction of the Thermal Power Plant in Banovici signed

contractMunever Cergic, Director General of the Brown Coal Mine Banovici (RMU) today signed contracts for implementation of the project of the Thermal Power Plant construction in Banovici with partners from China.

On behalf of the RMU Banovici, Cergic signed the contract for strategic cooperation with Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited (DEC). Besides this contract, following contracts were signed as well: the Contract of engineering, procurement and construction (EPC Contract) on a “turnkey” system for the power plant Banovici, block 1-350 MW between RMU Banovici “and Dongfang Electric Corporation Limited (DEC), as well as the framework contract for the funding of the Thermal Power Plant Banovici, block 1-350 MW between RMU “Banovici and Industrial and Commercial Bank of China (ICBC).

“Framework agreement that was signed today means that the construction of thermal power units, which will meet the highest European standards, can be started as early as next year. These are the latest technology and, in fact, this way the foundations of energy sector of B&H for the future are made. This will also resolve economic problems and the problem of pollution of cities Banovici and Zivinice, while the problem of heating of these two cities could be solved as well. It would be realistic to start with the construction of the Thermal Block in the following year,” according to the source.
