The main topic of the conversation between the delegations of the Government of the RS and China, led by Prime Minister Zeljka Cvijanovic and the Ambassador of China to BiH Chen Bo, was the improvement of the cooperation between Republika Srpska (RS) and China in the field of energy, transportation, and healthcare.

Cvijanovic noted that the RS and China are working together on projects of hydroelectric power plants “Dabar” and “Buk Bijela”, as well as on the project “Thermal Power Plant Gacko”, after a successfully implemented project “Thermal Power Plant Stanari”.

“When it comes to road infrastructure, we have numerous memoranda and certain agreements, which are indicating cooperation in the construction of the motorway from Brcko to Bijeljina, then the motorway through Mliniste to the south, as well as the motorway towards Prijedor,” stated PM Cvijanovic.

After the roundtable on the topic “Relation between the RS and China – the cooperation and opportunities for its improvement”, she further noted that among the important projects is also the reconstruction of the railway line Banja Luka-Prijedor, and numerous other projects.

Activities in the field of healthcare were determined as well, and 31 primary and 6 secondary schools in the RS expressed an interest in organizing classes of Chinese language.

The Ambassador of China to BiH Chen Bo believes that the cooperation between China and the RS rapidly developed, primarily in the field of energy.

That cooperation should be, as she said, further improved in other sectors, such as the infrastructure.

“We are expecting to reach a new agreement on the cooperation of our and companies from the RS regarding the construction of motorways,” said Ambassador Bo.

She also announced that the Confucius Institute should be opened at the University of Banja Luka very soon.
