yepYouth employment project (YEP), which is being implemented with the support of the Swiss Agency for development and cooperation  signed an agreement today with 11 NGOs and launched a series of local initiatives, worth 388.000 BAM, which in the next years will ensure the employment of at least 120 young people throughout B&H. The contracts on cooperation define that 700 people will be involved in various trainings and activities that will help them to find a job.

The aim of cooperation with NGOs is to motivate young people up to 30 years old to actively look for a job and to encourage local communities to give their contribution in increasing the employment rate of young people. Three projects from the area of wood and metal are planned, 5 projects from the field of agriculture, 3 projects from textile industry and 1 project to develop the volunteering program.

In the activities young people will be primarily included through the Club for job search that YEP launched throughout B&H in cooperation with the Federal Department for Employment, Cantonal Services for Employment, and Department for Employment of RS. So far, 19 clubs opened, where young people can engage in a three week training free of charge for active job search, and after that they can receive a 6 month advisory support.

“87 projects responded to the public call of the Project for involving local NGOs. Commission as a key criteria in the selection of projects analyzed a number of young people that would become employed, and the impact that to will have in community where it will be implemented. The Project will finance these activities in the amount of 270.000 BAM (non-refundable grants), while the remaining 30 % will be financed from the budget of NGOs and local communities”, said the YEP Project Manager Ranko Markuš.

Activities of NGOs initiatives will be implemented in 10 cities.
