The Council of Ministers, headed by Zoran Tegeltija, has not made any decision for more than a month, since the last session was held at the end of July. It is harmful for our country.
About 160 points are awaiting consideration and adoption. The failure to hold sessions is a consequence of the blockade which is being implemented by the representatives of the parties from the Republika Srpska (RS).
It is interesting that the public’s attention is not so much focused on the Council of Ministers, as on the Presidency of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), in whose work Milorad Dodik is involved.
Both institutions are important for the functioning of the state. Nevertheless, many decisions are ahead of the Council of Ministers, as the executive body of state power.
The only decision that has so far worried domestic politicians is the one on extending the so-called temporary funding, which is necessary to be made since BiH has not adopted a budget for this year.
If the Council of Ministers does not make that decision by the end of September, it will not be possible to pay salaries in state institutions. This, of course, is one of the most important issues, but there are a number of other decisions that must be made.
For example, this year, BiH will not participate in the prestigious entrepreneurship fair EXPO 2020 Dubai, which will be held from October 1st, 2021 to March 31st, 2022 in the United Arab Emirates. The reason is that the Council of Ministers of BiH did not make a decision on participation by the deadline, more precisely August 31st. This has caused long-term damage to our economy and reputation in the world.
Also, numerous other decisions await the Council of Ministers, this blockade will be a growing problem every day, and its full effects will begin to be felt in the following days and months if there is no solution. For now, unfortunately, there is no progress.
It is important to mention that there are no sessions of the Council of Ministers because they are not convened by the chairman Zoran Tegeltija (SNSD) in accordance with the decision of the parties from the BiH entity, RS to boycott the work of institutions because of the decision of the former High Representative (HR) Valentin Inzko to impose a law banning genocide denial and glorifying war criminals.
To recall, Dodik participated in the work of the last session of the Presidency of BiH, but he voted against all decisions and thus practically blocked the work of this institution. He announced that he would continue to act in this way if there was no agreement on Inzko’s law, the appointment of Christian Schmidt as HR, and other issues. Sefik Dzaferovic, a member of the BiH Presidency, called on Schmidt to dismiss Dodik, but he has so far shown no intention of doing so, Klix.ba writes.
