The Commander of EUFOR Althea, Major General Maurizio Fronda, met with the Commander of the Operational Command of the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, Major General Mirzet Lubenović, together with his deputies, Brigadier General Martin Propadalo and Brigadier General Nebojša Bošnjak, for high-level discussions on operational coordination and continued military cooperation through joint training initiatives.

Ahead of the commencement of training next week towards Exercise Combined Response 2026, both parties stressed the importance of collective training between both EUFOR and AF BiH to seek to enhance interoperability, reaffirming joint readiness and ensuring full alignment within the framework of EUFOR’s executive mandate under the Dayton Peace Agreement.

The meeting underscored the strength and maturity of the professional relationship between EUFOR and the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina. Both sides emphasized that close coordination, transparency, and continuous dialogue remain essential in preserving a safe and secure environment throughout Bosnia and Herzegovina. The commanders reaffirmed their shared understanding that stability is not static — it requires constant vigilance, preparedness, and partnership.

Major General Fronda reiterated EUFOR’s firm commitment to remain visible, credible, and impartial across Bosnia and Herzegovina. He confirmed EUFOR’s full readiness to continue close cooperation with the Armed Forces of Bosnia and Herzegovina, ensuring sustained operational effectiveness and coordinated engagement in support of local authorities.

COM EUFOR further highlighted that operational readiness and professional cooperation are the cornerstone of long-term security and remain central to EUFOR’s mission, and that joint exercises such as Combined Response 2026 served to underpin the collaborative relationship between both EUFOR and AF BiH, and safeguard the ongoing security and stability of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

This meeting once again demonstrated that stability is best preserved through trust, professionalism, and unified effort.
