The Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) has approved that the prison sentence handed down to the President of Republika Srpska (RS), Milorad Dodik, be replaced with a fine.
“Deciding on the request of the defense of the convicted Milorad Dodik to replace the imposed prison sentence with a fine, the Court, in accordance with legal provisions, issued a decision by which, after the opinion of the Prosecutor’s Office of BiH, the stated defense proposal was accepted,” the Court stated.
According to the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina, the redemption of a prison sentence is possible if it does not exceed one year.
After the Court’s approval, Dodik will pay 36.500 BAM.
It should be recalled that the Court of BiH has finally convicted Milorad Dodik to one year in prison and a ban on performing the duties of President of RS for a period of six years for failing to comply with the decisions of the High Representative in BiH, Christian Schmidt.
