Court of BiH confirmed Indictment for Milojko Kovacevic over Crimes against Humanity

On 28 February 2019 the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed the indictment charging the accused Milojko Kovačević with the criminal offense of Crimes against Humanity under Article 172(1)h) as read with Subparagraphs d) and k) of the Criminal Code of Bosnia and Herzegovina (CC BiH), and Article 29 of the CC BiH, all in conjunction with Article 180(1) of the Code.

The indictment alleges that the accused Milojko Kovačević, in a period between mid-April 1992 and late September 1992, during a widespread and systematic attack launched by the army of the Serb Republic of Bosnia and Herzegovina and the police from the Višegrad Public Security Station, aided by paramilitary formations coming from Serbia, aimed against the Bosniak civilian population in the territory of Višegrad municipality, as a member of the reserve unit of the Višegrad Public Security Station, knowing of the attack and that his actions constituted part thereof, participated in the persecution of the Bosniak civilian population in the territory of the Višegrad municipality, on ethnic and religious grounds, in conjunction with the forced transfer of population and other inhumane acts of a similar nature, committed with the intention to inflict great suffering or serious physical or mental injury or violation of health.
