The Appellate Panel of the Court of Bosnia and Herzegovina reduced the sentence of Milan Trišić from fifteen to thirteen years in prison for crimes against humanity in the Bratunac area.

The Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina confirmed for Detektor that the appeal of Trišić’s Defense regarding the sentence was partially accepted, and his prison term was reduced by two years.

“In the remaining part, the appeal of the defense attorney of the accused Milan Trišić is rejected as unfounded, and the first-instance verdict is confirmed in that part,” the verdict states.

In December of last year, Trišić was found guilty by a first-instance verdict that, as a member of the Territorial Defense and later the Army of Republika Srpska, he participated in murders, disappearances and inhumane treatment in the Bratunac area in May 1992.

He was found guilty on nine counts of crimes against civilians who were detained in the hall of the “Vuk Karadžić” school. Most of the counts refer to inflicting severe suffering on civilians by beating, and one count each to participation in the murder of one detainee and the forced disappearance of three others.

There is no possibility of appealing this verdict, announced the Prosecutor’s Office of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
