“The visit of members of the Presidency of BiH to Federal Republic of Germany and meeting with Chancellor Angela Merkel will be the crown of our foreign policy activities before the start of the summer vacation and taking over the new reform commitments,” said the Croatian member of the Presidency of BiH, Dragan Covic.
The Presidency of BiH accepted the invitation of Chancellor of Germany, Angela Merkel, for meeting in Berlin on the 30th of June this year.
Covic said that this visit was long agreed and that it comes in the “ideal time, for us as three members of the Presidency, to send a message when it comes to BiH foreign policy.”
“I am confident that that this will coincide with the signals that we are expecting from Brussels. Until then, we would have to finish everything we promised when submitting the applications for membership in the EU and I believe that we will receive a questionnaire right after and that our European path will be accelerated to the extent that, as planned, we get the candidacy status next year in the seventh or eighth month,” said Covic.
He believes that members of the Presidency of BiH will use this visit and conversation with Chancellor Merkel to define the position of BiH on the international political scene.
“There is a great responsibility and the importance of the fact that we talk about all the issues that are put before BiH as a center of stability in Southeast Europe. We in BiH must not underestimate this role nor deny it,” said Covic.
