The Speaker of the House of Peoples of the Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH) Parliament, Dragan Covic, met in Zagreb with the leadership and members of the Croatian General Assembly.
It is important to mention that the meeting discussed the current security challenges in Europe and confirmed that the security strategy on European soil must be compact, unified, and guarantee lasting peace.
The armed conflicts in Ukraine are a call for a special observation of geopolitical security challenges that must not in any way spill over into the Western Balkans or endanger peace, it was said.
Covic especially stressed the necessity of urgent stabilization of the political situation within the Federation of BiH (FBiH), but also the consolidation of relations between the three constituent peoples in accordance with the Dayton Peace Agreement.
”A precondition for a stable and functional BIH is to ensure the legitimate political representation of the constituent peoples at all administrative and political levels. Systemic discrimination and the imposition of political representatives are unacceptable in democratic political systems and undermine any European perspective,” the statement said.
It was also emphasized that at the moment there are no formal legal conditions for holding the General Elections.
Changes in the election legislation and the implementation of the decisions of the Constitutional Court of BiH and the European Court of Human Rights are an urgent necessity that must have a positive epilogue, it was concluded at yesterday’s meeting.
