Croatian FM: I hope that the Political Forces that stand for Cooperation will prevail in BiH

Croatia hopes that political forces advocating for cooperation will prevail in Bosnia and Herzegovina (BiH), Croatian Minister of Foreign and European Affairs Gordan Grlic Radman said yesterday at the parliamentary committees, stressing that a “crude media campaign” is being waged against these actors.

Yesterday, the Committee for Croats outside the Republic of Croatia and the Committee for Foreign Policy of the Croatian Parliament held a joint session on the topic of the role of the Croatian people and cooperation between Croatia and BiH on the country’s Euro-Atlantic path.

The head of the diplomacy addressed the committee and said that BiH started this year in a “significantly more positive atmosphere compared to the extremely stormy 2022”.

BiH received the status of a candidate for European Union (EU) membership, the process of establishing a new government is underway, which has put the European path and the implementation of reforms on its agenda, and there is an “exceptional dynamic of bilateral visits and meetings” that testify to a new approach, Grlic Radman stated.

“Our expectations are that those political forces that stand for cooperation within the country, as well as with neighboring countries, will prevail in BiH,” emphasized the Croatian minister.

He emphasized that there is a “crude media campaign” going on in BiH, which seeks to put further pressure on High Representative Christian Schmidt and Bosniak political leaders who are trying to build “constructive relations” with Croats and Croatia, and that their “openness to cooperation” is presented as a betrayal of Bosniaks interests.

Speaking about the process of forming the Government of the Federation of BiH (FBiH), Grlic Radman said that Croatia prefers that this process be carried out “through existing procedures”, which would testify to the “maturity of political actors” in BiH, Klix.ba reports.
